Former Kaizer Chiefs goalkeeper coach Ilyes Mzoughi has started his new role with the Burkina Faso national team.
Mzoughi joined Chiefs two years ago and was part of Nasreddine Nabi’s technical team when the Tunisian took over at Naturena.
Following Nabi’s departure early in 2025/26, Mzoughi along with the rest of the technical team – co-coaches Cedric Kaze and Khalil Ben Youssef plus conditioning coach Majdi Safi stayed on.
But last week, the club confirmed the exit of the four as they are now looking for a new head coach with his own technical team.
Mzoughi was widely praised for his role in helping Brandon Petersen return to form over last season.
The well-travelled Tunisian is no stranger to international football, having worked with Mauritania in a dual role while at Amakhosi over two seasons.
The Stallions are currently in Russia preparing for friendlies against the European side and Belarus in a new era, as they rebuild their squad for the 2027 Africa Cup of Nations qualifiers and beyond.
