Bafana Bafana‘s Group A opponents Mexico beat Carlos Queiroz’s Ghana 2-0 in a friendly game on Saturday morning.

Former Bafana and Real Madrid coach Queiroz only recently took over after Otto Addo got sacked by the Black Stars, with Roger De Sa assisting him.

It was his first game in charge, as Ghana prepare for the World Cup, where they are in Group L alongside England, Croatia and Panama.

However, Queiroz had a largely inexperienced squad at his disposal with the likes of Thomas Partey, Jordan Ayew, Mohamed Kudus and Antoine Semenyo are still with their clubs.

Mexico, who face Bafana in the World Cup opener, opened the scoring inside two minutes via Brian Guiterrez and added onto the scoreline in the 54th via Guillermo Martinez.

It was Mexico’s fourth win in their last four games, with only Belgium (1-1) and Portugal (0-0) holding El Tricolor to draws.

Mexico still have two more friendly matches before facing Hugo Broos’ men on 11 June, playing Australia on 31 May and Serbia on 4 June.

Ghana, meanwhile, have now lost five games in a row, including a 5-1 defeat to Austria. They have one more friendly match ahead of the World Cup, facing Wales on 2 June.
