Ex-Pirates Winger Takes Sly Dig At Former Clubs After Saudi Move

Former Orlando Pirates winger Sameehg Doutie has hit back at his former PSL teams after sealing a move to French Ligue 1 champions Paris-St Germain’s prestigious Academy in Saudi Arabia.

Doutie turned out for the likes of Ajax Cape Town (now, Cape Town Spurs), SuperSport United, Bidvest Wits before leaving the country to play for Atlético de Kolkata in 2016 in the Indian Super League where he earned the ISL glory.

The 35-year-old officially retired in 2022 but overturned that decision before heading Down Under and is now a free agent since parting ways with New Zealand-based Manukau United in July 2023. He now seems to have earned himself with what looks like a move to PSG’s academy.

In a series of posts on his Instagram stories on Monday, the former Ajax youth product shared a glimpse of his current endeavours where he was seen at the PSG Academy in Saudi Arabia, dressed in the iconic colours of the French champions.

Accompanying the photo, he captioned, “Training Done”, hinting at his continued passion for the game beyond his playing days.

In two other posts however, Doutie seemed to direct a sly dig at his former clubs with the captions, “Wasn’t good enough to be involved back home my place of birth”, while the other post said: “Wasn’t good enough but made them winners logic” with pictures of all the teams he played and won trophies for.

Despite a remarkable career spanning nearly 15 years achieving financial success and numerous achievements, the Cape Town-born still remains passionate about football, which is evident from his continued involvement at the PSG Academy.
