Tso Discusses Lorch’s Al Ahly Rumours
Orlando Pirates legend Benedict ‘Tso’ Vilakazi has discussed rumours linking Thembinkosi Lorch with a move to Pitso Mosimane’s al Ahly.
Mosimane himself took to social media last week to respond to reports in local media about his interest in the Pirates winger.
The South African tactician revealed that he would personally ask Pirates chairman Irvin Khoza for his blessing before making a move on the 27-year-old.
Former Bucs midfielder Vilakazi says he still feels like Lorch will remain at Orlando Stadium.
“Ever since winning the Player of the Season award two seasons ago, Thembinkosi Lorch’s form has never been the same,” he wrote in his iDiski Times column.
“He is still a good player no doubt about that, but he has not been consistent with his performances. Just to look back, Lorch won the Player of the Season, left for the AFCON 2019 where he scored the winning against Egypt in the last 16.
“When he came back from AFCON 2019, there were links with him and clubs from Belgium but nothing serious happened. Since then, he has remained an important player for the Buccaneers, but he has not reached the same form that won him many accolades.
“Pitso Mosimane says he admires him and if he wants him, he will speak to the club owner Dr Irvin Khoza. It will be interesting to see what will happen in the next few weeks.
“I am sure people in Egypt still remember Lorch for what he did to them in their own AFCON tournament.
“My gut feeling is that he may stay at Orlando Pirates for a little longer. We shall see.”
Tso also chats about Pirates’ new signing Goodman Mosele as well as linked Baroka forward Evidence Makgopa in this week’s column, while the latest edition of iDiski Times is once again packed with quality content.
