Lionel Messi’s father Jorge, who is also his agent, has ruled out a return to FC Barcelona.
Jorge Messi was in Paris earlier this week to talk about his son’s contract extension with the French giants, but talks are said to have stalled.
After the PSG talks, Messi Snr. immediately flew to Barcelona, which caused now speculation as to whether he would meet with FC Barcelona president Joan Laporta.
However, Messi’s father, who also has several businesses and properties in Barcelona, has dismissed speculation over a potential Barca return of his son.
“I don’t think Leo will ever play for Barça again,” he told Spanish publication SPORT, who caught him as he was already departing Barcelona again.
“The conditions are not right. We have not spoken with [Barça president Joan] Laporta and there is no offer.”
There is understood to be a lot of tension between Laparto and Messi’s camp after the player had wanted to stay in Barcelona, while Laporta made a last-minute u-turn on a contact offer in 2021.
Messi then left to join PSG after an emotional exit press conference, during which he stated he never wanted to leave.
However, his PSG contract is running out by the end of June and it remains to be seen whether he will continue in Ligue 1, with earlier reports stating he had verbally agreed to a contract extension.
