Real Madrid have confirmed the signing of Jude Bellingham from Borussia Dortmund, with the midfielder joining the club on a six-year deal.
Dortmund had already announced the transfer after sending a message to their shareholders on 7 June that Bellingham was sold for a fee of €103 million (R2.1 billion), plus add ons that can amount to 30% of the fixed amount.
On Wednesday, Los Blancos have now announced their new signing.
“Real Madrid CF and Borussia Dortmund have agreed on the transfer of the player Jude Bellingham, who will remain linked to our club for the next six seasons,” read a statement.
“Tomorrow, Thursday, June 15, at 12:00 noon at Real Madrid City, the presentation ceremony for Jude Bellingham as a new Real Madrid player will take place.”
The 19-year-old midfielder becomes Real’s second most-expensive signing after Eden Hazard, who cost €115 million plus add-ons but was released earlier this month with a year left before his deal expired.
Meanwhile, Bellingham was recently named the Bundesliga Player of the Season and leaves Dortmund three years after joining them from Birmingham.
He made 42 appearances for BVB during an impressive 2022/23 campaign, scoring 14 goals and setting up seven more.
Overall, Bellingham made 132 appearances, scoring 24 times and assisting 25 more. He won the 2020/21 DFB Pokal with Dortmund, but missed out on the 2022/23 Bundesliga title after being overtaken by Bayern Munich on the final day of the season.
