Broos Reacts To Bafana Draw

Bafana Bafana head coach Hugo Broos was pleased despite his side spurning several chances in the 0-0 draw with Guinea in Belgium on Friday evening.

South Africa had 20 attempts at goal with nine on target in an entertaining encounter against the West Africans at the Guldensporen Stadion – with Lyle Foster, Keagan Dolly and Evidence Makgopa missing the best of the chances.

However, Broos was excited about the number of scoring chances created in his new-look starting eleven while he offered three debuts in the form of Khuliso Mudau, Bandile Shandu and Athenkosi Mcaba.

“It was a good performance, we asked that of the players for the two friendly games, so the result is not so important even though we [would’ve] liked to win today, but okay I think our team played a very good game,” he said after the game.

“We have six or seven chances, so when there was a team that should have won today it’s South Africa. We had a little problem when you see the tall guys of Guinea that was sometimes a problem with the aerial duels but on the football level we played a good game, I’m very happy with the performance.

“It’s always nice to come back to your country and if your team give a performance like this it’s always nice to come back.”

South Africa will now move their attention to preparing for their clash against world champions France and the Stade Pierre-Mauroy on Tuesday evening.
