Bvuma Responds To Zwane’s 4 Out Of 10 Rating

Kaizer Chiefs goalkeeper Bruce Bvuma says he agrees with head coach Arthur Zwane about where they are as a team after the defeat to Royal AM.

Bvuma earned a start ahead of Brandon Petersen, club captain Itumeleng Khune and rising star Bontle Molefe for the 2022/23 DStv Premiership opener and gave a good account of his opportunity despite conceding within the opening 62 seconds.

Zwane suggested that the squad are not halfway where they should be with a four out of 10 rating for their current level, which Bvuma said is fair, given the result was not favourable.

“I agree with the coach because as much as we played well as a team, at the end of the day we’re playing for results, this is a league, we want to win, people are busy praising us and stuff even though we lost,” Bvuma said on Sunday afternoon at Naturena Village.

“It’s not right for us players, we need to get results, we know the importance of results. Mentally I believe we’re ready, we’ll keep on going and definitely going to build from what we did [against Royal AM].”

The South Africa international goalkeeper went on to admit that he’s on his toes about being given a chance and knows he needs to be at a high level, consistently, to retain his place in the starting eleven under Zwane this season.

“Of course, I always want to perform each and every game, whether I concede or not, like I said we have four number ones here, so each and every game as goalkeepers we want to keep those clean sheets,” he added.

“So going forward, obviously going into the next game, we’ll try by all means, whoever gets to play, to keep a clean sheet for the team.”

Chiefs will be aiming to kickstart their season in their first home game on Tuesday evening when they host Maritzburg United at the FNB Stadium (19h30).
