Chiefs & Downs Stars Among 6 Ruled Out

Mamelodi Sundowns goalkeeper Denis Onyango and Kaizer Chiefs midfielder Cole Alexander are among six players suspended for DStv Premiership action this week.

Onyango was sent off in Sundowns 2-0 win over Sekhukhune United for a professional foul after Mosa Lebusa’s mistake left him with no choice but to foul Tshediso Patjie just outside the area.

His decision was hailed by Sundowns co-coach Rhulani Mokwena as they kept their 11th clean sheet in 12 league outings and maintained their spot at the summit – eight points ahead of second-placed Chiefs with a game in hand.

Kenny Mweene was brought on as his replacement and is expected to stand in for the Uganda legend for their mouthwatering clash against high-flying Stellenbosch – who’ll be without defender Mohamed Rafiq De Goede.

Meanwhile, the in-form Amakhosi will be without Alexander, who received two bookable offences against AmaZulu in their 1-1 draw.

In his absence in the Soweto Derby, Chiefs still managed to secure a 3-1 victory that moved them into the CAF Champions League qualification spot – but with Cape Town City ahead they will face an entirely different proposition.

Samkelo Mgwazela, who was also sent off in the Chiefs clash last month is also ruled out for AmaZulu while their KZN rivals Maritzburg United and Royal AM have Zukile Kewuti and Zukile Mkhize suspended respectively.
