Mamelodi Sundowns defender Rushine De Reuck, who is part of the Bafana Bafana squad for the Cosafa Cup, says there’s no bigger honour than representing your country.
The 2019/2020 PSL Defender of the Season, who joined Sundowns from Maritzburg United, has also been named as a vice-captain, with AmaZulu’s Veli Mothwa leading the team.
De Reuck says it’s been a lifelong dream to wear the national jersey, and he wants to remain a regular member now that he’s earned call ups.
“It’s obviously a big honour to be here, because there’s a lot of other footballers who I think, are really, really good who’re not here,” De Reuck told SAFA media.
“So it’s a big honour to just be here, you know, because it’s a lifelong dream for me, and I want to continue being part of the national team.
“Also, being part of a winning team, your application is very important. Whoever comes into the setup, they must just grab it with both hands, you know, because, I mean, there’s nothing really bigger than playing for your national team.
“So, you know, we need to work together as a team, fight for each other, and then, you know, I’m sure we can build a winning team.”
Bafana start their Cosafa campaign on Tuesday when they face Botswana in Gqeberha.
