Rushine De Reuck says that Mamelodi Sundowns know they face a difficult challenge when they welcome Swallows FC in the DStv Premiership clash today at Loftus Versveld Stadium at 17:30.
The two teams drew both league games last season, but De Reuck believes his side could win the game if they keep on working together as a team.
However, he knows it will be a different challenge now, but feels they are more than capable of going to a FIFA break without losing any match this season.
“Yeah, preparation is going well. And obviously, it’s a new game, we shift our focus to Swallows, we know it’s not going to be easy. So we are preparing, we are analysing, we know what we need to do to win the game,” De Reuck told Mamelodi Sundowns media department.
“I think Swallows is a very static team, they keep many, many cleansheets, it’s not going to be easy game for us, so it’s going to be very important for us to try to break them down, to create chances against them.
“Because like I said if you apply yourself really, really well in the game, I know that you will be able to do that. So now for us, we need to win this game, is very important to go into FIFA break with that winning feeling.
“We know that obviously it’s not going to be easy game, like I said, no, but we’re taking one game at a time. And we know that if we do that, it’s possible that we might go this go throughout the season without losing a game.”
De Reuck also confirmed that Downs are trying to go one better than in 2020/21, finishing the new season as ‘Invincibles’.
“And it will be very special, we want to create our own legacy, as well,” he added.
“Last season we only lost one game so this season we must try not to lose any. And it’s possible with the team that we have, the best that we have. Everyone who’s playing at the back we have got a good relationship off the field, that’s helps us on the field.I
“We know what’s expected from us, we are playing for very, very big team. We know that if we keep clean sheets, the chances of winning is very, very high. So we just need to continue working on that, and it’s not only us defenders and the goalkeepers that’s defending, as everyone together.”
