Peter Shalulile has changed his goal celebration this season and now opened up on why he uses the ‘shush’ gesture instead of jumping over ad-boards in 2021/22 so far.
The reigning DStv Premiership Player of the Season made headlines last year for his rather different celebrations.
This campaign, however, the in-form Mamelodi Sundowns forward was seen putting his finger over his lips, as if he wants to silence someone.
However, Shalulile insisted the shushing is just for himself and not directed at anyone
“The celebration is still there but I just tweaked it a little bit,” he told Thomas Mlambo on the Ultimate Sport Show.
“That (the finger) is for no-one, I’m just shutting up myself. I’m just quiet and moving on.
“I have nothing against anyone. I shut myself up and move on, do what I got to do.”
When asked why he doesn’t use Ronaldo’s celebration, taking his shirt off the Namibian forward joked that he doesn’t have enough muscles.
“I wanna do that but I don’t have muscles man,” he said.
“For now, I’m going to keep it on.”
Shalulile will have another chance to celebrate a goal when his side face Swallows FC at 17:30 on Sunday. So far, he has scored six goals in eight games this season across all competitions.
