Kaizer Chiefs star Keagan Dolly has reacted to being nicknamed the ‘South African Messi’ by some of the club’s supporters.
Dolly has been in fine form recently, being involved in six goals over his last three DStv Premiership games.
Overall, the left-footed star has scored three goals and assisted four times since he arrived at the Phefeni Boys at the start of the season.
His fine performances, his skills and his statue have now resulted in some fans calling him the ‘South African Messi’, with Dolly saying that comparison his a stretch too far.
“That’s a bit of something else, you know Messi is a special player,” Dolly told Thomas Mlambo on Ultimate Sports Show.
“I have always looked up to a player like that, I’ve always tried to learn from him, and I’m just trying my best.”
The 28-year-old has also joked that an arguably the best player in the world went to France after he heard that he (Dolly) went back to South Africa
“Unfortunately, when I landed in South Africa he went there, and I think he heard that I left, so he could sign (laughs).”
