Downs Equal Impressive PSL Record

Mamelodi Sundowns equalled an impressive record in their 1-0 win over Golden Arrows on Wednesday night.

Masandawana were not at their best at the Sugar Ray Xulu Stadium on Wednesday, but left with three points thanks to a goal by Gaston Sirino.

The log leaders also left Durban, equalling the DStv Premiership record for most consecutive games without conceding, equalling the record set by Bidvest Wits in 2003.

They have now kept a clean sheet in 10 successive games, a run that started on 29 May with a goalless draw against Swallows.

The won eight of the 10 games, picking up two 0-0 draws and scoring 17 goals in the process.

Downs’ though had luck on their side as Arrows had the chance to find the back of the net when Victor Gomez awarded them a penalty.

However, Michael Gumede’s attempt missed the target, meaning the defending champions could collect another clean sheet.

They can become the sole record holders on 3 November, when they will host Maritzburg United.
