Orlando Pirates co-assistant coach Fadlu Davids has shared his thoughts after his side’s draw against Maritzburg.
The Team of Choice and the Buccaneers couldn’t be separated at the Harry Gwala Stadium in the DStv Premiership clash.
The two teams played to a goalless draw, which saw Pirates move to sixth spot in the table after they played seven games in the league so far.
“Yeah, quite disappointing in the first half not take the advantage of the opportunities that you create,” he told SuperSport TV.
“Of course on the other hand you have to give credit to the opponent in terms of their defensive discipline.
“You have to give credit to the opponent for their defensive display. Yes, they never had a shot on target to really disturb our goalkeeper but then it falls on us to unlock this defence line.
“Of course them playing four centre-backs, setting up a four-defence line, they changed in the second half to a five defence-line, you have to be creative.
“You have to unlock this block what you are presented with. We tried through the centre, not possible. We tried via the wings, not really possible but we were unfortunate not to get the goal to unlock the game.
“The one goal was going to unlock the game and open them up, then they wouldn’t have been able to sit as deep as they would have liked to be.”
The Soweto giants are facing Diables Noirs in the CAF Confederations Cup on Sunday at Orlando Stadium.
