MLS NEXT Pro side Real Monarchs have announced the signing for South African midfielder Tyrone Mondi ahead of their inaugural season.
The 24-year-old former Kovsies star has signed a professional contract with a view to breaking into the Real Salt Lake squad as Monarchs serves as their affiliate club.
Capped at junior level for South Africa, Mondi arrives after scoring 10 goals in 28 appearances for Oregan State University
“The Club is very proud to announce the addition of Tyrone to the Real Monarchs roster. Tyrone has proven himself a capable winger at the college level and is someone our staff believes has the necessary tools to continue to develop within our pathway,” Real Salt Lake Assistant General Manager Tony Beltran told the club’s website.
Mondi becomes the latest player to earn a move in the US after Katlego Ntsabeleng and Bongokuhle Hlongwane who signed for MLS sides Dallas FC and Minnesota United.
