Cape Town City goalkeeper coach Sjoerd Woudenberg is on his way out from the DStv Premiership club, and has bid farewell to the team.
The Dutch goalkeeper coach leaves a few months before his contract would have expire.
Woudenberg joined the club in 2019 and had a close working relationship with goalkeeper Peter Leeuwenburgh, who is also returning to Holland at the end of the season, having signed for FC Groningen.
His exit follows soon after Head Coach Jan Olde Riekerink was placed on ‘administrative leave’, with his exit from the club imminent.
“It’s time to say good bye..,” Woudenberg posted on social media.
“I want to thank the club and the chairman that they respect my decision to leave Cape Town City FC.
“Now it’s time to reload, and look forward what the future will bring.” “
Cape Town you were amazing!”
Woudenberg is expected to return to Holland, though he has been linked with a possible switch to Soweto, where Orlando Pirates seem a likely option as Wayne Sandilands is currently serving as a temporary goalkeeper coach.
