Former PSL referee Victor Hlungwani asserts that Kaizer Chiefs winger Pule Mmodi was correctly given his marching orders in their Betway Premiership clash against Sekhukhune United last weekend.
The pacey attacker was dismissed in stoppage time for violent conduct after being deemed to have elbowed Shaune Magaila in the face.
‘The Principal’ further emphasized that Mmodi made matters worse for himself because the incident took place right in front of the fourth official which made the referee’s decision so much easier in dishing out a straight red card.
“We see Mmodi and here Mmodi elbows someone right in front of the assistant referee. What was he thinking? Hlungwani said on Soccerzone.
“Right in front of the assistant referee [Romeo Mathibithi] there, Mmodi comes with an elbow which is reckless with excessive force.

“Straight red! And I don’t know why George Matlou is complaining.
“Look at that. This is serious foul play.
“Mmodi will sit out the next game and when the new season commences, he will still be suspended because of this.”
Amakhosi play Polokwane City in their must-win league clash on Saturday, 24 May, in order to qualify for next season’s MTN8 competition.
