Golden Arrows coach Lehlohonolo Seema says he’ll take the point after their goalless draw against Orlando Pirates, and says a good goalkeeping performance and a bit of luck of helped them.
Nkosingiphile Gumede put in a Man of the Match performance for Arrows in the 0-0 draw, while Pirates were unlucky not to have been awarded a penalty for a handball by Lungelo Dube.
Seema says it was a difficult game, but his team kept their shape and held on for a point on the road.
“I think it’s a game where we did not start the way we wanted to,” Seema said at the post match press conference.
“It was a little bit slow and you could see also Pirates started a little a little bit slow, also it was a game where both teams were trying to test each other.
“However I think when the game goes on we managed to pick our pace up and what was encouraging is today, yes we always say we are not scoring, and we did not create as much as we created the last match or we normally do.
“Today, yes, we are playing against a team that we know that before we can even attack them, you know that was they can get the ball, they’ll attack with numbers.
“But I’m happy with the shape, the structure of the boys today, I think they stuck what we planned and to contain Orlando Pirates, and we had our moments but I think our goalkeeper getting the man of the match it shows that we were playing against a team that was attacking everything.
“For us to have sustained the pressure and then still managed and they could have stolen at the end also they could have stolen it because the goalkeeper made crucial saves also on our side.
“But overall performance I’m happy with it, take a point at Orlando Stadium second round.”
Seema was also asked about Dube’s handball, and whether or not he thought Pirates deserved a penalty.
“My name is Lehlohonolo, Lehlohonolo means lucky,” he jokingly replied.
“You’ll get them you, sometimes you lose them, sometimes you get so one day they will get and we move on to the next one. Thank you, maybe the referee missed it.”
