Davids – Two Points Dropped

Orlando Pirates co coach Fadlu Davids says it was two points lost as they played to a goalless draw against Golden Arrows in the DStv Premiership on Wednesday evening.

While Pirates are still second on the log, they remain 17 points behind Mamelodi Sundowns after the 0-0 draw at Orlando Stadium.

Davids says that while it wasn’t the best start to the game, he felt that they did enough to win the game.

“We started the game slow,” Davids said in the post match press conference.

“Only getting into the game after 20, 25 minutes. Quite lethargic start, not being able to really put high pressure on the ball.

“But we got into the game in the second part of the first half and a really good second half.

“Yes, of course definitely two points dropped, for the amount of chances we created.

“We had to win this game on the overall display, but quite disappointed with the first 20 minutes of the game.”

Davids was also disappointed for Pirates not to be awarded a penalty in the second half when Fortune Makaringe’s effort struck Lungelo Dube’s arm.

“These decisions don’t go our way,” he continued.

“It’s a clear, clear, clear penalty, handball, the hand is making the body bigger, it’s a clear save like a goalkeeper save.

“But okay, we don’t want to complain, everybody makes mistakes.

“But we have to score, even the next chance with Kabelo Dlamini, at the edge of the box. Normally that is his area, where he puts it in the top corner, unfortunately he went for too much power.”
