Kaizer Chiefs co-coach Khalil Ben Youssef has explained the absence of Wandile Duba against Mamelodi Sundowns.
Duba, 21, had found form in the second half of the season, scoring three goals and setting up one more in Chiefs’ last seven games.
However, he was a surprise absentee from the line-up on Wednesday, with Ben Youssef explaining it’s due to a small injury niggle.
“We struggled a little bit last game, because we had only two days after the derby. So it was a little bit tough, more mentally than physically,” he told SuperSport TV.
“After this game we had a week to rest, all the team is ready today to fight and to compete except Duba who had a small pain so we decided with the medical team to give him a rest.”
Ben Youssef also explained that the coach didn’t feel the need to change much after the recent good run of the Glamour Boys.
“It’s the same squad, the only substitution is Duba. Like I said he felt a small pain and we don’t want to take a risk with him,” he added.
“Silva is striker, Lilepo is on the right side. Otherwise we’re keeping the same squad, the same players that played last few games.”
