Sekhukhune United coach MacDonald Makhubedu has explained what they did to overcome SuperSport United in their backyard in Pretoria.
Babina Noko have jumped into the second position on the DStv Premiership table after a late 1-0 win over Matsatsantsa at Lucas Moripe Stadium on Sunday afternoon.
In a dramatic game, where a player from both sides was sent off just within 15 minutes, Makhubedu has now revealed how they managed to beat Matsatsantsa in a difficult situation.
“Yeah, we wanted them to go wide and with crosses that’s our strength, we are very good on that, our goalkeeper and our centre-backs, that’s what we wanted,” he said after the match.
“We did not want them to come straight to us with combination play. But I think the two red cards changed everything, both teams went on the back foot a bit, so we wanted to catch each other on the break or whatever.
“It was not an open game, both teams were technical good, disciplined especially in the centre park where there was a big hole for both teams because of the red cards.
“But I think it was a good game for today, but we wanted the result. We knew we will get something, but SuperSport will always be SuperSport.
“I think we could have done better, they could have done also better, but it was the game of two good teams, but we wanted to win at all costs coming from the loss last week.”
The in-form DStv Premiership debutants will be in action again on Wednesday when they host Marumo Gallants at Ellis Park Stadium at 17:00.
