Makhubedu: If Chiefs Want It…

Sekhukhune United head coach MacDonald Makhubedu has sent a clear message to Kaizer Chiefs ahead of their scheduled DStv Premiership clash on Sunday.

Chiefs have not honoured their last two league games amidst a Covid-19 outbreak which has affected 35 people and forced a temporary closure of their Naturena Village.

While the PSL have yet to publicly state whether the games will be considered a walkover or postponed, the newly-promoted side has silently gone about their business and usurped Amakhosi into second place in the league.

“For Sunday’s game, it’s going to be a big one and good motivation for everyone who plays for us and the technical team also,” he told the club’s media department.

“We lost against Marumo Gallants last week so it’s a test of character for us on how we come back. It’s a big one. But we are also in the big league and will give Chiefs the respect they deserve.

“We want to do well on Sunday and maintain our log position, maintain top three. But we know it’s not going to be easy against Kaizer Chiefs. We anticipate a good game and our preparations have gone well.

“We trained today and did our regen [session] yesterday. Tomorrow we’ll work on certain aspects of the game, we’ll give our all on Sunday, try our best, we’ll fight and do well and Sunday. If we want it we’ll get it, if they want it they might get it – but it will be a good game between two good teams.”

Sekhukune are one point (23) ahead of Chiefs – albeit having played a game more – and are set to face the Soweto giants at FNB Stadium on Sunday (18h00).
