Manyama On That Hat-Trick
Lebogang Manyama has commented about his hat-trick that he scored in Kaizer Chiefs 3-2 win over Golden Arrows on Wednesday.
Manyama says that the most important thing was getting the victory, that keeps Chief’s hopes alive of a top eight spot in the DStv Premiership, but says scoring a hat trick for a club like Chiefs is a great honour.
Manyama says not many people get to do it in a Chiefs jersey, so he’s honoured to have that achievement.
“Ja, obviously very important, firstly, that we won,” Manyama told the club’s media department.
“I’m happy and I think we all know what happens, more especially at the village, the mood is positive because it’s a very positive place, and I think it’s a place that deserves more of that each and every day and I think it was a good start for us.
“But I mean you have to be very humble in victory and, obviously individually to score a hat-trick at this historic club is a huge honour. You know, people may take it small, but it’s not many players that do that, so I’m very honoured to be a part of that and ja, hopefully I can get more.”
Manyama says it’s been a while since he last scored a hat-trick, unless he joked that you counted at training.
“I don’t know if you counting training, I scored a lot at training,” Manyama said laughing.
“But ja, I mean, in a match I think it was when I was starting at Ajax, I think I was 20 or 21 which is like 10 years ago, 10 or 11 years ago.
“And ja, I mean, it’s was a nice feeling but obviously it means to me like I said, to do it at a club of Kaizer Chiefs’ magnitude is huge, something you I think you will live with forever, you will always be counted amongst players that have scored hat-tricks here.
“So it’s it’s an honour but most importantly, it was a hat-trick that gave the club a very, very important victory in terms of where we are going and what’s in front of us. But like I said, you have to remain humble and work on getting better, and if you can score three, that means you probably have a chance to score more so you always have to try and improve each and every time.”
