Maritzburg Owner Gives Update On Potential Sale
Maritzburg United owner Farook Kadodia has given an update on the club’s potential sale, saying he wouldn’t want the team to be moved to another province.
It has somewhat become the norm that PSL sides also move provinces after being sold, but Kadodia insisted one off his requirements for a potential buyer would be to leave Maritzburg United in Pietermaritzburg.
“There’ve been enquiries‚ but nothing really tangible offered‚” Kadodia told TimesLIVE.
“Look‚ as we’ve said at the beginning‚ I would love to have a sponsor to the team or big shareholders who can come and save the team. If we do sell it will be sad‚ but we’ll like the new buyers to keep the team in Maritzburg.
“We don’t want to sell to someone who’ll take the club away from Maritzburg.”
With time clearly running out ahead of the new 2021/22 season, Kadodia also confirmed the team will report for pre-season from next week.
“Well‚ I would like to prepare for the coming season. I can’t wait for the buyers to come here… I have to start preparing for the season. The players will start coming for pre-season next week.”
