AmaZulu’s Zambian midfielder Augustine Mulenga says that while they respect TP Mazembe, they are looking to get a positive result against their opponent in the DRC in their CAF Champions League tie on Saturday.
After drawing the first leg 0-0 in Durban, Benni McCarthy’s team face a daunting task against the five-time African champions in Lubumbashi .
Mulenga says they know the history of Mazembe, and while they respect their opponent, that respect will not be carried over into the playing field.
“I think if we can look back, TP Mazembe, it’s a big club with a big history in the African continent and on Saturday I’m sure we will go there and fight,” Mulenga told the club’s media department.
“Ja, we will give them respect but inside the field we won’t give them respect, because us also we want to get maximum points so that we can proceed to the group stage.
“And I’m sure the game is not going to be easy for us. It’s going to be tough, but we just have to work extra hard from the first whistle until the end.”
Mulenga says Usuthu’s midweek DStv Premiership victory over TS Galaxy, will also be a boost.
“I’m sure the game that we had on Tuesday, it gives us a bit of boost and morale for this Saturday’s game,” Mulenga continued.
“Because winning away from home is not easy. We showed the character from the first whistle until the end, and I’m sure everyone who is in Congo is looking forward to give his best so that we can carry maximum points on Saturday.”
