HomeBetway PremiershipOfficial: Royal AM Charged By PSL

Official: Royal AM Charged By PSL

Royal AM have been officially charged by the Premier Soccer League after splashing the cash on the pitch over the weekend.

The club was seen handing out bulks of cash to their players after their 2-1 win over Maritzburg United on Sunday, in video footage that went viral.

In the video footage, club chairman Andile Mpisane is seen counting huge bundles of cash notes together with club president, his mother Shauwn Mkhize as well as club official Richard Makhoba.

PSL prosecutor Nande Becker has now confirmed to iDiski Times that charges were sent out to the club on Wednesday morning.

“The charges that were laid relate to the incident which has been seen on social media with club officials coming on the pitch with bags of money and then distributing it among the players on the pitch,” Mr Becker told this publication.

“The club has been charged, the officials involved have also been charged (for handing out the money). The club has also been charged for failing to provide adequate security in that it allowed a pitch intrusion or invasion after the match.

“The club has also been charged with the players not leaving their changing room timorously to start the match. And I think the final one was they had 10 match balls and said it was 11 match balls.

“The club’s COVID-19 officer has also been charged because he failed to ensure that club officials wore protective masks at all necessary times.”

When asked about club president Shauwn Mkhize and chairman Mpisane, Becker confirmed “that they were also charged individually because they were the main people involved in the offering of the money and then also, where were their masks?”

Becker also confirmed that that the matter will be heard on the 14th of October.
