Stellenbosch have confirmed the arrival of former Black Leopards midfielder Sibongiseni Mthethwa.
The club had already confirmed Venezuelan Juan Carlos Ortiz’s arrival, and now they have announced their second signing made in the January transfer window.
It had been reported that Steve Barker’s team had been after Mthethwa’s signature at the start of the season, but the two clubs were unable to reach an agreement.
However those issues seems to have been ironed out, and the 28-year-old has now officially been unveiled.
The midfielder featured in 17 games for Lidoda Duvha in the GladAfrica Championship this season.
He had joined Leopards back in 2020, having previously played for Royal Eagles.
“We are delighted with the signing of Sibongiseni Mthethwa,” Barker told the club’s media department.
“He is a player we have monitored and admired for a while now. We tried to secure him at the beginning of the season.
“So, we are pleased and excited to have secured him now. He will add value and further quality to our midfield. He has great ability in breaking down attacks and will provide a strong presence in the midfield.
“He is also capable in possession with good vision and a good passing range. He is hard working and demonstrates a strong mentality and will to succeed.
“It is with all these attributes that we are confident he will contribute and continue in helping the team be more competitive”
