Ribeiro Achieves Special PSL History At Sundowns

Mamelodi Sundowns attacker Lucas Ribeiro Costa is having a dream start to his Chloorkop career having already netted 25 goals in all competitions since been snapped up from Belgian second division outfit SK Beveren in July 2023.

On Wednesday evening, Ribeiro scored the equalizer as Masandawana staged a late comeback to beat Magesi FC 2-1 in the Betway Premiership.

This season, the 26-year-old Brazilian has been in fine form with six goals and three assists in 10 league games and is now joint top goalscorer with fellow teammate Iqraam Rayners. His overall stats read – nine goals and seven assists in 24 outings in all competitions (Betway, CAF Champions League, Carling Knockout Cup and MTN8).

With this feat, Ribeiro also becomes the first Brazilian player in PSL history to reach 25 goals in all competitions and with his contract only running down in 2028, the St Helena-born man could go on to achieve remarkable history with Sundowns.

He has so far won the league title and the African Football League.
