Maritzburg United defender Keegan Ritchie is expecting a different Swallows FC when they face off against his former side on Saturday afternoon.
Ritchie says their opponents haven’t been getting good results lately and says their coaching change will bring more confidence into the team, as they roped in Dylan Kerr after Brandon Truter’s exit.
The former Dube Birds left-back is confident that they will secure maximum points, though it will be a difficult game.
The Team of Choice are currently 11th on the table on 13 points, while Swallows are rock bottom with only eight points.
“We have prepared well as a team, we have obviously worked on a couple of things for the game,” he told the club’s media department.
“In training, doing a lot of the passing drills and stuff. We have worked well, and we prepared well for the game.
“The team will obviously set up differently, they have got a new coach, I was there under Brakkies. I expect them to come out a bit different, and maybe we should take advantage of that.
“They haven’t been with a coach for long, so I feel like it’s a good time to get three points against Swallows – they are struggling at the moment. But, also sometimes with the new coach, it brings a better laugh to the team.
“So they might be fired up for the game. They want to impress the coach, there are maybe players that have been out that are coming in, so they want to impress, so it’s going to be a fight, it’s going to be a tough one. But I think we have prepared well enough to get maximum points.”
The KwaZulu-Natal outfit will travel to Soweto to face Swallows at Dobsonville Stadium on Saturday afternoon at 15:30.
