Mamelodi Sundowns co-head coach Rulani Mokwena has given an injury update for his side ahead of Saturday’s MTN8 final against Cape Town City, saying they are hopeful Gaston Sirino, Mthobi Mvala and Rushine De Reuck can be part of the squad.
The DStv Premiership champions will face Eric Tinkler’s Cape Town City at the Moses Mabhida Stadium at 18:00 on Saturday.
Sundowns will attempt to lift their first ever MTN8 title, as the trophy has eluded them since the revamping of the tournament in 2008.
“On injuries, we’ve got a couple situations. We had Gaston missing the previous game, but we we expect him back,” he told reporters.
“We haven’t seen the players yet, because we’re in recovery and had our day off after the match on Sunday. We’ll assess the players as soon as they return back to work.
“Apart from the Lebo Maboe situation, which we’ve spoken about extensively, we don’t have too many situations except Mvala, we still have to see what’s happening, Rushine has not returned to training yet but we’re hopeful they will be part of the preparations for this weekend.”
Downs reached the 2008 MTN8 final but lost to Kaizer Chiefs on penalties. Saturday’s match is their first return to the final in 13 years.
