Erwin Saavedra who is close to joining Mamelodi Sundowns has broken his silence on his highly expected transfer.
The 25-year-old midfielder is expected to join Masandawana after his club Bolivar bid farewell to him.
Saavedra is set to link up with Downs after the current international break, during which Bolivia will face Venezuela and Chile. He’s featured 68 minutes in a 5-0 win over Trinidad, assisting one of the goals.
He also scored his country’s only two goals at last year’s Copa America and many football fans in South Africa are excited about his imminent arrival at the league leaders.
Saavedra himself also expressed his excitement about moving outside of his home country.
“I looked for this opportunity for a long time, [I am] happy and grateful to the people who noticed my soccer. I am more mature to leave the country [now],” he said as per Futbolistasbol.
“I feel like leaving the country to prove my football in another country. It is very difficult for them to value Bolivian players in other countries. This for me is a motivation, I hope I do very well.”
iDiski Times understands that Saavedra will arrive in South Africa after the upcoming two international games on 28 January and 1 February.
