Maritzburg United have announced an exciting new partnership with a European club, the PSL side announced on Tuesday.
The Team of Choice confirmed the new partnership with Bundesliga side Arminia Bielefeld today in a venture that promises to be mutually beneficial, opening a world of opportunity for the two sides.
Chairman Farook Kadodia, head coach Ernst Middendorp as well as representatives from the German outfit were present during the announcement.
Middendorp himself has close ties to Bielefeld, having managed the Bundesliga side thrice throughout his managerial career.
Both clubs will share hands with coaching clinics, youth camps and friendly games could be an option.
“Today marks a momentous milestone for our club as we are here to announce a partnership with Bundesliga club DSC Arminia Bielefeld,” Kadodia said on Tuesday afternoon.
“We are honoured to partner with a club from one of Europe’s top leagues.”
Moritz Eschweiler, vice-president of Bielefeld added: “Thank very much for these very warm words and this introduction of Arminia Bielefeld. We are really proud of entering this partnership with Maritzburg United.
“What Arminia strongly believes in is that soccer is such more than sport. Soccer connects everything, soccer connects people, soccer connects clubs.
“This is the reason why we are so proud of entering this cooperation. Africa, South Africa in general have one big advantage, you are so young.
“This is the reason why we want to share hands in the education of young people. Connecting the youth, showing them how to train from a professional level, should be the main idea of cooperation between Bielefeld and Maritzburg.
“We want to exchange on a training level, hopefully when corona is over we can meet eye-to-eye. The cooperation will truly come to life when we can travel and meet each other.”
