SAFA Respond To FIFA Ruling

The South African Football Association (SAFA) says they will ‘consider its options’ after the Fifa Disciplinary Committee dismissed their appeal for a replay against Ghana.

SAFA were seeking their final Group G 2022 FIFA World Cup qualifier to be replayed on the allegations of match manipulation against referee Maguette Ndiaye in the 1-0 defeat at the hands of the Black Stars.

But 10 days since the case was sent to be investigated by the Fifa DC, an official response was received declaring the appeal as inadmissible.

While Safa received a short response from the world football governing body, CEO Advocate Tebogo Motlanthe has revealed how they will proceed.

“We have received the decision without details and we will request FIFA for the reasons and consider our options.”

As things stand, the West Africans will proceed to the playoffs where they will face either Morocco, Tunisia, Algeria, Nigeria or Senegal in a two-legged tie for a place at Qatar 2022.
