In Saturday’s DSTV Premiership results, log leaders Mamelodi Sundowns won again, while it was another disappointing result for Kaizer Chiefs.
Baroka 0-2 Mamelodi Sundowns
Log leaders Sundowns marched on as they beat Baroka 2-0 at the Peter Mokaba Stadium
Peter Shalulile went close in the 14th minute, but his headed attempt struck the crossbar.
Just before halftime, Another Shalulile header struck the woodwork again, and while the ball bounced down, it didn’t cross the line and it remained goalless at halftime.
Finally after 55 minutes Sundowns managed to score, Lyle Lakay beating everyone from a free kick to make it 1-0
Denwen Farmer was shown a red card in the 88th minute, after being the last man and fouling Shalulile.
Two minutes later Themba Zwane added the second, his eighth of the season, after a good build-up, and assist from Gaston Sirino.
SuperSport United 3-0 TS Galaxy
SuperSport United beat TS Galaxy, comfortably winning 3-0 at the Mbombela Stadium.
Thamsanqa Gabuza gave SuperSport the lead after just two minutes, heading in for a great start.
It became better three minutes later, as Gabuza got his second.
Things settled down a bit after that frantic start, and while there were chances for both sides to add to the scoreline, it remained 2-0 at half-time.
Bradley Grobler added the third, and his ninth of the season in the 78th minute.
The goal also saw him draw level with Abram Raselmane, on 57 goals, as the club’s all-time goal-scorer.
Galaxy were awarded a penalty just before full-time, but Ronwen Williams pulled a save to deny Bevan Fransman.
Golden Arrows 1-0 Chippa United
Golden Arrows beat Chippa United 1-0, thanks to a late goal from Lindokuhle Mtshali, as Mandla Ncikazi’s team remained unbeaten.
Mtshali struck in the 73rd minute, after an even contest between the two teams.
Dan Malesela now with a draw and a loss since taking charge at Chippa again.
TTM 2-2 Cape Town City
TTM cam from two goals down to force a 2-2 draw with Cape Town City.
Fagrie Lakay marked his return to the City side with an early goal, opening the scoring in the 7th minute.
Lakay and City made it two, in the 18th minute, Lakay finishing off a Surprise Ralani cross.
However four minutes later TTM were on the scoresheet, Meshack Maphangule with the goal from the penalty spot after a foul by Abbubaker Mobara.
TTM found the equaliser in the 67th minute when substitute Thembisani Nevhulamba got on the scoresheet.
Kaizer Chiefs 0-2 Maritzburg United
Chiefs’ poor form in the league continued as they lost 2-0 to Maritzburg at the FNB Stadium.
It was a goalless first half between Chiefs and Maritzburg, as neither side could make in-roads into the final third.
Samir Nurkovic made his first DSTV Premiership appearance of the season when he came on for the last half hour.
Judas Moseamedi gave the visitors the lead, when he got his head to Dan Morgan’s cross in the 66th minute.
It was a brace for Moseamedi in the 79th minute, as the lanky striker scored from an acute angle to double Maritzburg’s lead.
A good win for Ernst Middendorp against his former team. Maritzburg up to 12th, while Chiefs are in 14th spot.
