Mamelodi Sundowns host Royal AM this afternoon at Loftus Versveld with John Maduka’s side looking to move into second place in the DStv Premiership – here’s how they line up.
In the build-up to the game Sundowns co-head coach Manqoba Mngqithi admitted they are privileged to have the squad depth they have amid the challenges the rest of the squads in the league face during the pandemic.
While he was disappointed to drop points against Stellenbosch last week, Mngqithi says that result will not change how they approach the December calendar, and they will be looking for maximum points in their next two games, starting with Royal AM.
Teams such as Kaizer Chiefs have been struck with a Covid-19 crisis, as their squad is depleted, and Mngqithi says all teams are facing problems at the moment, but at Sundowns they are lucky to have a lot of first-team depth.
“I don’t think there’s anything different in terms of the games that we’re going to play,” Mngqithi told the club’s media department.
“It’s gonna be tough for everyone, the games are coming thick and fast and then requiring a lot of depth.
“And teams are having issues, health-wise, there are many other reasons that take some players out. So if it’s tough for Sundowns, it’s tougher for every other team.”
