Tinkler – We’re Going To Have To Be Resolute

Cape Town City head coach Eric Tinkler says they will have to work hard to get a result when they travel to take on Sekhukhune United in the DStv Premiership on Saturday.

City are currently 10th, two points behind 7th placed Sekhukhune, but have one played match fewer, with their game against Marumo Gallants postponed last month

Tinkler also said they are still waiting on the return of Nathan Fasika, who was delayed with the DRC national team, after the FIFA break.

“We had three players obviously away during the FIFA break, representing their national teams,” Tinkler told the City media department.

“Two of those players obviously reported back from their respective national teams yesterday, so they joined us for the first time at training this week. We still waiting on for Fasika to come back.

“Unfortunately he was stuck in Madagascar, but he should be joining us as of (Friday). In terms of injuries, only Darren Keet and Douglas Mapfumo are currently out due to injury. Other than that, we obviously have everybody else available for selection.

“I think the the week of the FIFA break was very, very good. The intensity in the training sessions gave us an opportunity to work on a number of tactical situations leading into this game against Sekhukhune.

“(Friday) we’ll have our last session before we obviously travel to Johannesburg to go face Sekhukhune. It won’t be an easy game, there aren’t in easy games in this league. They actually haven’t had a bad start to the season, they’ve collected some very valuable points, and I think they’re going to play with quite a lot of confidence.

“So we’re going to have to work extremely hard, both in in attack and defence. They are a very direct team, they they like to get in behind and and put in a lot of crosses into the box. Like I said before, it’s going to be tough. Defensively, we’re going to have to be resolute, we’re going to have to look to try and keep a clean sheet again.

“I think we’ve managed to do that four times so far this season. If we can do that again, then obviously we stand a good chance of collecting maximum points against them. So ja, everything looks good leading up to the game.”
