iDiski Times analyst Benedict Vilakazi has made bold statement that Mamelodi Sundowns coach Miguel Cardoso must win the CAF Champions League final if he wants to keep his job.
‘Tso’ said this after his former side wrapped up their 2025/26 Betway Premiership campaign with a 3-2 defeat to TS Galaxy at Mbombela Stadium on Tuesday.

The result is not the best for the eight-time consecutive champions as their nearest rivals Orlando Pirates is right on their heels with two games in hand.
If Pirates clinch the title, it will mean a barren season for the Brazilians on the domestic front. But they could avoid a totally empty campaign if they win the continental trophy against ASFAR of Morocco later this month.
Tso says it’s a no brainer that if the Portuguese tactician wants to keep his job he must deliver a second star for Sundowns.
“Right now, I’m not going to lie to you he cannot lose two trophies,” said Tso on iDiski TV.
“He needs to get one. Again, remember what the management of Mamelodi Sundowns and the Directors and the Chairman wants is the Champions League. So, he’s got that opportunity to say I can get that trophy for you guys.
“Unfortunately, he’s going with a team, you know how back then they used to put wheel caps on car wheels, it looks beautiful, but he’s got a team without wheel caps, just old rims. That’s the sad part but I just wish them all the best.
“But it’s a must win trophy for him. If he doesn’t win the Champions League, I don’t think it’s going to be easier for him to be at Sundowns next season.”
Tso added that he is worried about the Sundowns defence ahead of the cup final as it has been shaky lately in his opinion.
“Sundowns at the back they were vulnerable,” added the former Pirates captain.
“We spoke about it in terms of the defence shaking. I think the coach took out [Grant] Kekana to save him for the Champions League. Other than that, that defence was not balanced and as they go to the Champions League final with this defence, I’m worried.”
