Cape Town football academy Ubuntu, the 2019 national Engen champions, and last year’s runners-up, have their first graduate sign with a European team.

Ubuntu announced on Friday that Munashe Garananga had signed with Dynamo Brest in Belarus.

The 2019 Belarus champions are currently sixth in the Belarus Premier League.

The defender moved to South Africa in 2016 and has was a key member of the 2019 side that won the Engen.

The academy, who has a number of graduates in the DStv Premiership like Luke Fleurs, Jesse Donn and Antonio van Wyk, have also sent a number of players to colleges in the USA, but Garanga is the first to head to Europe.

“I’m so happy to sign my first Pro contract at 21’ Garananga said.

“All thanks to God and the people who pushed me to get to where I am. My parents and everyone at Ubuntu Football Academy, I owe it to them… I know I will represent Ubuntu well and pave the way for the guys coming up from the academy!”

“Munashe has always been immensely talented and he has had to persevere to endure the delay of his his dreams because of covid-19,” Casey Prince, the co-founder of the academy said.

“We are proud of his perseverance, and we trust that he is going to represent Ubuntu Football Academy very well in the next phase of his career. We wish him well and we continue to walk with him all the way.”
