Vila Provides Update On Injury

Mamelodi Sundowns midfielder Sibusiso Vilakazi has given an update on his recovery from injury.

The 30-year-old, who also revealed that the change in his jersey number was to honour his idol, Kobe Bryant, admits that his recovery is going well, but it will be a fight to get back into the team.

“The recovery is going well as I am busy on the mend. In football, you do not have time as you are playing at a high level and there are quality players who are ready to fill the space and the space is small because of the players that are around,” he told the club’s official website.

“We tend to think we have time whereas we do not have, these days you get injured and you must work harder to get back into the team.”

‘Vila’ suffered a serious injury prior to the end of the last campaign, which required surgery.
