Zim Announce Squad To Face Bafana
Zimbabwe have announced their squad for the upcoming FIFA World Cup qualifiers against South Africa and Ethiopia.
The Warriors will kick off their qualifying campaign at home, hosting Bafana on 3 September before facing Ethiopia four days later.
Unlike Bafana, Zimbabwe qualified for next year’s AFCON but they are on a bad run of just one win from their last 12 games.
The squad includes several players, plying their trade in South Africa, including Khama Billiat (Kaizer Chiefs), Washington Arubi (Gallants), Divine Lunga (Sundowns), Kudakwashe Mahachi, Onismor Bhasera (SuperSport), Blessing Sarupinda (Sekhukhune), Talbert Shumba (Free State Stars), Butholezwe Ncube (Amazulu) and Terrence Dzvukamanja (Orlando Pirates).
Stade Reims’ Marshall Munetsi and Knowledge Musona, who recently joined Al-Tai, are the the other well-known players in the squad.
Aston Villa midfielder Marvelous Nakamba and Brandon Galloway, who could make his debut after switching his allegiance from England to Zimbabwe, are in the squad despite English teams announcing they would prevent their players to travel to red-list countries.
