Kaizer Chiefs coach Cedric Kaze has praised Mduduzi Shabalala for showing signs of a return to form, with the midfielder providing an assist for Flavio Silva’s opening goal in Sunday’s 2-0 Betway Premiership victory over TS Galaxy.
Shabalala’s contribution was a bright spark in a commanding performance from Amakhosi, and Kaze was quick to acknowledge the 22-year-old’s journey through a difficult patch.

“Shabalala is a player with very big potential, it’s true that there was some time he felt disappointed with his performances, and the harsh critics that came to him,” Kaze said.
The Burundian coach noted that adversity is an inevitable part of a footballer’s career and that Shabalala’s response to it has been encouraging.
“You know, but it’s part of being a footballer, and the biggest thing is to have a strong mentality and keep working hard, keep improving everyday and happy that he’s turning the corner,” Kaze added.
However, the Chiefs technical team are not getting carried away, with Kaze making clear that the next step for the talented youngster is sustained output.
“But now we will look for more consistency to his game,” he concluded.
The win keeps Chiefs in the hunt for their top two target, albeit ambitious, with the four-game winning streak breathing fresh momentum into their campaign ahead of a crucial final stretch of the season.
