Orlando Pirates Coach Josef Zinnbauer has shared his views on what could make a difference in the upcoming Soweto Derby on Saturday.
Pirates take on Kaizer Chiefs in the first leg of the MTN 8 semi-final at the Orlando Stadium, with the winner guaranteed a great advantage going into the second leg the following week.
Kaizer Chiefs coach Gavin Hunt is perceived to be in an advantageous position, due to his previous relationship with many of the Pirates players.
iBhakaniya have Thabang Monare, Tyson Hlatshwayo, Deon Hotto, Ben Motshwari, Terrence Dzvukamanja and Vincent Pule in their ranks, all of whom were coached by Hunt at Bidvest Wits.
Speaking to the media earlier today, Zinnbauer acknowledged that Hunt is familiar with many of his current players. He expanded by saying:
“He knows my team exactly, some players were in his team last season. He knows the players, he knows their style. For the derby, we have nothing to lose… We go into the derby without pressure. Maybe the supporters not being there also takes away some of the pressure.”
Orlando Pirates have not won the Soweto Derby since July 2019 in the Black Label Cup.
