Motsepe Foundation Championship side All Stars FC have rejected a R9 million offer to sell their status after it was confirmed the club is up for sale.
As first reported by SABC Sport, All Stars, the former Cape Town All Stars, are willing to sell their status after only one season in Johannesburg.
‘Umlilo’ relocated from Cape Town to Gauteng ahead of the 2022/23 season in order to cut costs, as the club felt they were spending too much money on traveling a large part of the MFC clubs based in Johannesburg and Limpopo, who have six teams.
This publication has been informed that a first R9 million bid was rejected by All Stars as chairman Lunga Ncwana is said to be holding out for R12 million, as stated by SABC Sport.
There have been some teams interested in the status, Milano United is one of those teams that seem to be willing to get the status, while Black Leopards could also come into the mix should they be relegated from National First Division.
“Yes, R9 million was rejected. This is not the first time we hear that the team is on sale, even last season when they lost in the playoffs we’ve heard this,” a close source told iDiski Times.
“I think the chairman was triggered by the draw against Tshakuma, also by what is happening in the league with a lot of bad decisions from match officials.
“There was an agreement that coach Badela will be given at least this season to build his team, then next season go for promotion. I would wait for the day the deal happens.”
