Durban City have opened a gape at the top to four points after beating Kruger United, while Cape Town Spurs have dropped into the relegation spots.
On Friday night, Durban City narrowly beat Kruger United by 1-0, with Joslin Kamatuka on the scoresheet with his sixth goal of the campaign.
Meanwhile, it was raining goals at Athlone Stadium between Cape Town Spurs and third-placed Milford FC. The KwaZulu-Natal-based side led by 2-0, with midfield maestro Mthetheleli Mthiyane opened the scoring, and Siphosethu Ndlabi doubling the lead for the Milford. However, Khaya Mfecane pulled one back for the Urban Warriors with a rocket shot from outside the box before Therlo Moosa completed the comeback with his fourth goal of the season.
Casric Stars faced JDR Stars, with Kermit Erasmus making his debut for Casric. The home side took the lead in the first half through Mlungisi Zwane and went into the break leading 1-0. They scored two more goals from Decide Chauke, while JDR Stars only netted once.
In the other Friday fixture, a physical battle between ORBIT College and Upington City took place at the Olympia Park Stadium. Katlego Cwinyane and Willie Nel were on the scoresheet and the game ended 1-1.
Saturday afternoon was the day for relegation-threatened teams to show up and they didn’t disappoint. Venda FC hammered Baroka FC 5-1, with Banele Gama scoring a brace and Judas Moseamedi on the scoresheet as well. The win saw Venda climb above CT Spurs on goal difference.
On the other hand, Lerumo United ended their nine-match winless run, beating Black Leopards 1-0. Despite the win, they remain rooted to the bottom of the table.
Muzomuhle Khanyi continued to bang goals in MFC after netting his second hattrick this season against Highbury FC in a 3-1 in Kimberly.
The only fixture on Sunday produced just one goal between Pretoria University and Pretoria Callies. Kgomotso Mosadi’s second half strike was enough for all three points for AmaTuks.
