Highbury FC Make 5 New Signings Ahead Of 2024/25 MFC Season

Newly promoted Motsepe Foundation Championship side Highbury FC have made five new signings just three days before the new season gets underway.

The Eastern Cape-based recently gained promotion to the MFC after winning the ABC Motsepe League promotional playoffs, beating Njampela FC 2-1 in the deciding match.

iDiski Times has been reliably informed that Highbury completed the signings of Masilakhe Phohlongo, Zukile Kewuti, Malcolm Jacobs, Phumlani Ntshangase, and Mthobisi Mngomezulu, while head coach Kabelo Sibiya has been rewarded with a three-year contract for his incredible work.

Highbury becomes the second team in the last decade from Eastern Cape to participate in the MFC after Bizana Pondo Chiefs under the guidance of former Free State Stars and Chippa United goalkeeper Tshepo Motsoeneng.

The MFC new side will have the privilege of playing in front of their Eastern Cape supporters this coming season with the Isaac Wolfson Stadium in Gqeberha set to be their home base.

Highbury held a good pre-season, playing the likes of Chippa, Venda Football Club and JDR Stars.

Sibiya’s side will kickstart their season with a home tie against Black Leopards on Friday, August 23.
