Mammila On His Future After Playoff Shock

Having suffered a 4-0 hammering at the hands of Richards Bay in the PSL Promotion/Playoffs, Morgan Mammila admitted to being unsure of his future at Baroka FC.

Bakgakga needed to beat the Natal Rich Boyz 2-0 on the afternoon to stand any chance of gaining DStv Premiership promotion ahead of the 2024/25 season, but came unstuck against a fired-up Vusumuzi Vilakazi side.

Speaking to SuperSport TV in his post-match interview, Mammila, who was roped in to replace suspended Dan Malesela, was unsure of where his future next lies.

“I still have to sit down with the chairman and see what’s the way forward,” he said.

“But I can see this team needs lot of things to rebuild, so we’ll sit down and see what’s the future for the team.”

Mammila also bemoaned traveling as a factor that possibly played part in his team being unable to perform better on the day.

“I think the traveling of yesterday killed us because we only leave home seven o’clock.

“We took a flight one o’clock and we arrive around four o’clock. We arrive at the hotel around five and we couldn’t even train.”

Despite conceding four unanswered goals, Mammila expressed pride in his young players.

“Yeah, you could see with the result because they are there but they still need to improve.

“But this is the future. If you’ve got eight Under 23’s starting and playing like this, what more do you ask?

“It’s just a matter of we wait. Seven months of football is coming now. We coming back in August and I think we’ll be better. We’ll be far better than what we are now.”

The Limpopo-based outfit finished rock bottom of the mini-league with just two points from their four matches.
