Kruger United were officially crowned Motsepe Foundation Championship winners, while Cape Town City and Milford FC booked their spots in the Premier Soccer League promotion playoffs.

Kruger United were confirmed as champions weeks ago, on Sunday it was a day to officially crown them. The Mpumalanga-based side played to an entertaining 2-2 draw with The Bees to reach 62 points, becoming the first side to win promotion with 60 or more points since 2017/18 season when Highlands Park won it with 69 points.

Champions might have been confirmed before the weekend already, but two promotion playoff spots were still up for grabs with CT City, Milford FC, Hungry Lions and Casric Stars all in the race on the last day.

Cape Town City beat Leicesterford City 4-2 to secure their spot, while Milford’s goalless draw with Hungry Lions meant that Casric Stars failed to qualify for the playoffs despite a 3-1 win over Gomora United.

City finished in second place, thanks to Dzenan Zajmovic, Gabriel Amato and a Jaedin Rhodes brace, which saw them climb to 54 points – level with Milford in third.

The playoffs will kick off next week on Tuesday, 26th May with Cape Town City welcoming Milford FC. The third side in playoffs will be the side that finishes in 15th place in the Betway Premiership.

The two relegated sides were confirmed two weeks ago, Baroka FC and Black Leopards. The two Limpopo-based clubs will participate in the ABC Motsepe League in 2026/27 season.
