Ralani Turns Down PSL Side

Former Mamelodi Sundowns forward Surprise Ralani has rejected an offer from Motsepe Championship outfit Maritzburg United.

The Team of Choice got relegated to the MFC two seasons ago and will be fighting for promotion to the elite league this campaign after narrowly missing out on qualifying for the PSL/promotional playoffs in 2023/24. After doing so well in the KZN Premier’s Cup, reaching the final where they lost to Royal AM, the KwaZulu-Natal outfit is looking to bolster its playing personnel with more experience.

iDiski Times understands that Maritzburg have been hot on Ralani’s heels since he parted ways with Cape Town Spurs in January, and thus tabled an offer for the 36-year-old which he rejected.

It remains unclear if United will submit a second and much improved offer for the experienced former Cape Town City attacker as they aim to return to top-flight football.

The KZN-based side had some new faces in the KZN Premier’s Cup including Athini Jodwana formerly with Chippa United.

This season’s MFC league campaign is expected to start on August 23 with Maritzburg facing Casric Stars at home.
