Polokwane City midfielder Cole Alexander says he is not surprised that his teammates Oswin Appollis and Thabang Matuludi have attracted attention from big clubs.
The duo enjoyed a good season with Rise and Shine in the league last season that saw them earn call-ups to Hugo Broos’ Bafana Bafana set-up. Appollis formed part of the squad that won bronze at the 2023 Africa Cup of Nations, while Matuludi played in the 2024 COSAFA squad.

Alexander spoke to the media ahead of his side’s MTN8 quarter-final tie against Mamelodi Sundowns in Polokwane, saying he’s not surprised by interest in the talented duo, but admitted that it’s a tricky situation as the players make the team stronger however have to think about their families too.
“I’m not surprised at all they are phenomenal players,” Alexander told the media.
“You know it’s very tough because from my side I want what’s best for the club but also as a father, as a family man I also want what’s best for the player and his family. So, it’s a very tricky situation.
“Ultimately, I don’t know what’s going to happen but those are two important players for the club. Listening to our chairman, the chairman wants to build this brand.
“He wants the brand to get bigger and bigger and by losing some of the key players I think that’s something that wouldn’t help the club. If they are here the brand only gets bigger and stronger and we can reach more things together as team.
“So yeah, it’s a very complex situation and I can’t say much about it but for me I want the best for the club and for the players. So, we’ll see God knows best.”
